Hi all, I just wanted to make sure everyone knows that this Friday, August 15 from 3-5:30 PM EST, I’ll be offering my next training on working with sociopolitical distress in psychotherapy. I’ve spent months putting this together and am really proud to offer this as an expansion of my original webinar.
Friday’s training will build upon May’s training and discussing how to respond to clinical manifestations of sociopolitical distress, including:
feelings of grief and survivor’s guilt,
worsened gender dysphoria,
suicidality,
misinformation and panic responses,
detransition fantasies,
activist burnout, and
stress/trauma related to forced relocation.
There will also be time spent on how we collectively and individually can address our own needs as therapists doing this work and humans living in this era.
I’ve included a few stretch breaks with art and music throughout and time for Q&A at the end. I have not sought approval for CEUs, so this will only count toward continuing education credits that don’t require prior approval. Recording will be available for all registrants. The training is sliding scale, ranging from $20-60 and trans folks can use discount codes (see FAQ) to get 50% off the lowest ticket tier or totally no-cost access.

I’ve spent months developing this, working to highlight how I bring the principles and approaches I discussed in May’s training (e.g., holding the both/and, bearing witness, nurturing radical hope) into complex clinical work.
I also know too many of us are really struggling with the weight of this work and we generally lack synthesized best practice guidance for the particular challenges of this moment. I’ve built this training from my in-depth knowledge of the psychotherapy and trans mental health literature, my grounding in psychodynamic, feminist, and trauma-focused psychotherapy training, my own clinical practice, and my lived experiences both as a trans person myself and as a person connected to many others in the community.
I’m excited for this latest iteration and have had many things going on (more on that in my next newsletter) that have disrupted and delayed promotion, but I hope I can get the word out so folks can at least register and have access to the recording. (Note: there will be paid access to the recording available later in August, but it has to be at a fixed price. So if you want to take advantage of the sliding scale or the no-cost option for trans folks, you have to sign up now.)
Thank you all for what you are doing and I look forward to sharing more with you all about how I’m navigating this world and this work and all that I’ve been up to on both the professional and personal sides of things. More soon!
Here’s the link to register. Feel free to share with friends and networks, of course:
